Bottesford and Southwell

WEDNESDAY 28th AUGUST

Bottesford and Beyond 6.2 miles

Joyce led an excellent walk from Botteford out into the wonderful countryside. The views across to the Vale of Belvoir with Bevoir Castle in one direction and the landmarks of Newark in the other were amazing. We also visited Bottesford church to hear the story of the Witches of Belvoir.

As always a lovely walk in great company.

Southwell Goverton Bleasby 7.2 miles

An interesting circular and undulating walk of discovery from Southwell. This time visiting Goverton and Bleasby. Our route initially took us through a delightful field of wildflowers before passing Brackenhurst and through the small wood which enclosed the Halloughton Dumble. A coffee stop at the top of Goverton Hill which gave a good view of the Trent Valley. We passed through Goverton village admiring the elegant housing before having a lunch stop in Bleasby. The return to Southwell featured a glorious bank of Sunflowers on the edge of a golden crop of wheat and a rather awkward overgrown narrow pathway.
