Moorgreen Whisby Claypole

SUNDAY 28th January

Colliers Wood Moorgreen 8 Miles

Elspeth led this Sunday work in an area little visited by the group. She had to revise and shorten the proposed route because of a footpath closure at the appropriately named Bogend. She started at Collier's Wood car park, went round the lake and up to Greasley Church. Then across the B600 and fields towards Hucknall. The route continued back around and along the ridge with good views towards Felley Priory. Then back to the car park by the track alongside Moorgreen Reservoir. It was a good Winter walk as most surfaces were hard.

Route added to the library.

WEDNESDAY 31st January

Winter Walking around the Lakes at Whisby 4.5 miles

A good standby in wet weather on good paths with an opportunity to see migrating birds on the lakes. Carol led a group of 19 on this enjoyable short winter walk round the lakes.

Dry Doddington Claypole 6.5 miles

Another walk where the proposed route was compromised by a closed pathway. The day before Joyce, nobly assisted by Anne found a way round but moved the start point to Dry Doddington. It looks like they found a dry barn with seating out of the wind for there lunchbreak!

Kathy commented: “It was SOOO cold but not too muddy thankfully.”
