WEDNESDAY 23rd April
Shelford Radcliffe 6.7 miles
Bob welcomed Margaret & Billie Jo from Mansfield and Sherwood Ramblers and Alison Hammond from Gedling Ramblers as 27 Ramblers left Shelford Village Hall in pleasant walking conditions which soon warmed up when the sun came out. We headed down to the old Stoke Bardolph Ferry where there is a report that it will start again, although no date given!! We walked by the River Trent and through woods going down to the weir before climbing back to our track towards Radcliffe on Trent, stopping for coffee on the way. From Radcliffe we returned on the footpath to Shelford, stopping for lunch at Rockley Memorial Park, which turned out to be a popular lunch stop with the sun shining, and flowers starting to bloom.

SUNDAY 27th April
Youlgreave 7.8 miles.
John took the group back to Youlgreave for another, but different walk. This time starting from the YHA at the centre of this picturesque village they headed to the Lathkill River. They followed its course along the pretty dale for 3 miles passing through the nature reserve. Leaving the river behind there was one real climb up some steps Finally reaching a height of 323 metres but with the benefit of impressive views. Then downhill all the way back to their start point following the River Bradford for a short stretch

WEDNESDAY 30th April
Egmanton Laxton 6.5 miles
A very warm day for late April. Carol repeated the walk she led a couple of years ago. Starting in Egmanton the walk visited Laxton and Moorhouse following paths, quiet roads and tracks and skirting the edge of Egmanton Wood. There were a few small climbs in places with extensive views across flat, open fields. On the approach into Laxton the route passed the remains of a Motte and Bailey Castle. Laxton Castle is a late 11th- or early 12th-century medieval castle located north of the village.

Farnsfield Edingley 6.2 miles
Roger led a group of us on a delightful walk from Farnsfield. We walked along a ridge and down to Edingley and then back along the old railway line that used to run from Rolleston to Mansfield through Farnsfield. Lovely weather, and lovely company.
