WEDNESDAY 16th July

Fulbeck 5.5 miles.

Margaret led the walk and reported: 17 walkers enjoyed a 5.5 mile walk around Fulbeck. Leaving the village along a green lane we then climbed to a vantage point for lunch with good views over the Trent valley and also Lincoln Cathedral before returning via the hamlet of Sudthorpe. On completion several people sampled the hospitality at the Hare and Hounds.

Sheepwash Stroll Lowdham 8 miles

Dave led this walk which was advertised as:

“Leave the stress of driving behind and enjoy the excitement of public transport on this ACCESSIBLE BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT walk. It may be scary, but it can be done, by train from Newark or Nottingham and by bus from Southwell or Nottingham! It will be an undulating stroll from Lowdham, exploring the hills and views around this attractive area, including a visit to the picturesque village of Epperstone. There are some steep ascents, but none are too long, and we will be rewarded with excellent views. We'll throw in an ancient sheepwash dip for free but will hopefully refrain from throwing any walkers in!”

WEDNESDAY 23rd July

Westhorpe 6 miles

A largish group of us set off guided by Roger for a walk from Southwell, through Westthorpe and back to Southwell. On the way there was diverse scenery, a solar farm and some rather attractive houses. We stopped for lunch at Brackenhurst, which meant picnic tables and the chance to fuel up with more coffee.  A very pleasant walk, with as always lovely company.

Woolsthorpe - Denton Reservoir 7.5 miles

Dave led this circular walk, from Woolsthorpe, along sections of the Grantham Canal, Denton Reservoir, Denton Village, with views of the Vale of Belvoir and Belvoir Castle.
