Idle Valley Retford 5.5 miles

Kay led eight of us on a delightful walk around the Idle Valley Nature Reserve near Retford. A delightful walk along well made paths , some of it near the very pretty River Idle. After a few very hot days the temperature was ideal and a good time was had by all.

Caunton Winkburn Maplebeck 8.1 miles

A regular walk, this time led by Dave. Starting from St Andrews Church Caunton this circular walk visited the interesting and pretty villages of Winkburn where they passed the Hall and The Beermats Brewing company and Maplebeck where there is a pretty church and a tiny pub, The Bee Hive.

SUNDAY 31st May

Spring into Summer around Southwell 7 miles.

Hopefully summer has now arrived meaning the orchids are in bloom. Starting from the Southwell Trail car park Caroline took the group along the River Greet through the town orchard to Crew Lane. On reaching the pretty village of Morton they stopped for a coffee break in the Pinfold. the return walk took them over the railway line and then up across fields before descending through woodland to the Potwell Dyke Grasslands area. They were greeted by lovely wildflowers including orchids. A picnic lunch in the park near the beautiful Southwell Minster. The walk finished at the Final Whistle where walkers were able to wet their whistles.
